The Ambition
North Tyneside Council won a share of £8.8 million in government funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support the recruitment and retention of the adult social care workforce in the North Tyneside area.
The funding enabled North Tyneside Council to invest in an accessible website to support the growth and development of the region's adult social care workforce. North Tyneside Council needed a Digital Partner to execute the project in a way that positioned the Council as a leading, reputable, and trusted adult social care training and development resource provider.
What We Did
We created an easy-to-navigate brochure website using the WordPress development platform and CMS.
Our developers built the Care Academy website with custom functionality to enable the digital team to upload, manage and optimise content - ensuring the local community always has access to the latest information.
Discovery and Requirements Analysis
We kicked off the project by identifying the opportunities the nationwide social care recruitment campaign presented for North Tyneside Council with a Requirements and Analysis Workshop. During this phase, our Digital Producer and the council’s Project Management team identified the opportunity for an accessible and scalable platform to recruit, train and develop adult social care workers across North Tyneside.
During this session, we discovered the council’s objective to recruit new adult social care workers and provide development opportunities and resources for those already in the workforce.
User Journeys
A dedicated producer and team of developers mapped out the typical user journey for the identified target audiences as part of the website development process.
For this project, we identified the need for multiple user journeys – one for users interested in starting a career in adult social care and another for users who are already in the industry but want to develop their careers. In addition to this, there needed to be a consideration for healthcare providers who may seek a partnership with the Care Academy.
Website Design and Development
Our design team worked closely with our developers to produce a website that carefully signposts users to the relevant information for the stage they are at in their adult social care careers. The easy-to-navigate content and clear call-to-actions demonstrate the emphasis on user experience.
The website enables the council’s digital team to add the latest news and information via a content management system. This enables the council to showcase their work in the local community to support the UK Government’s Social Care Recruitment Campaign.
The Results
North Tyneside Care Academy now has a sleek website to position itself as a dedicated provider for the training, recruitment and development of adult social care workers in the region.
The investment in this digital experience demonstrates the Council’s commitment to the sector and aims to grow the region’s adult social care workforce substantially throughout the project’s fully-funded duration of 3 years.
To coincide with the website’s launch, North Tyneside Care Academy ran a printed marketing campaign with a call-to-action directing people to the Care Academy for more information.
