The Ambition
Solopress initially approached us with the request to create an eCommerce website. However, when we asked the team about their goals and demonstrated our expertise by showcasing our previous work, they recognised the opportunity to provide self-serve product customisation on the storefront.
As a result, the project evolved from simply building a website to developing a comprehensive digital strategy with an eCommerce and Web-to-Print Platform that would enable them to achieve their objective of expanding their business from £12m to £20m in just three years.

eCommerce website design and development
At the core of the digital strategy lies the creation and implementation of the Web-to-Print eCommerce platform. Tailored precisely to address both Solopress's requirements and those of their customers, this platform has consistently delivered outstanding performance since its launch.

Revolutionary Web-to-Print Platform
One of Solopress's primary goals was to implement end-to-end web-to-print capability. Initially, their process was complex, often necessitating human involvement at multiple stages. Through streamlining and optimising these processes, we successfully eradicated common instances where manual intervention was previously required to fulfil an order.
We implemented a pre-flight artwork checker that identifies any issues and presents customers with auto-corrected options for review. Once approved, the optimised job is seamlessly transmitted to the printing presses using custom-developed software. This enhancement enables a significant portion of jobs to be completed without the need for any manual intervention.
Interactive design online tool
The "Design Online" feature does exactly as its name suggests: it enables users to craft their own artwork directly on the website using their browser. Customers have the option to begin from scratch or, more frequently, select a template that they can personalise with their own details.
This feature serves as a prime example of a custom-developed tool that empowers customers to self-serve, thereby enhancing satisfaction while reducing administrative workload for Solopress. It's a win-win situation for all involved.
Customer-centric development
Our customer-centric approach is evident not only in the significant features highlighted earlier but also in various smaller enhancements. For instance, dynamic pricing automatically adjusts prices based on the user's selected order size and print specifications.
In addition to introducing new features, we collaborate closely with Solopress to continually enhance overall customer engagement and conversion rates. This involves iterative improvements to the front-end design and user experience (UX) across the site.
Behind The Scenes
Many of the web-based systems we've developed for Solopress offer utility beyond customer-facing applications. A prime example is the ordering system used by front-end website customers and the Solopress customer service team.
Essentially, the customer service team utilises an expanded version of the customer order system as their Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) system. This allows the Solopress team to efficiently modify, manage, and add orders for customers requiring assistance. It also streamlines internal processes, centralising all print work within the same workflow and product maintenance in one location.
