What They Say
“I felt confident that Enigma were fully on board with our aims from the start and they were able to clearly advise and create something above and beyond the brief – keeping our site clean, clear and easy to navigate whilst injecting a real sense of who we are via engaging imagery and layout.
Communication throughout the process was easy and very helpful. We are delighted with the result and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Enigma and its fantastic team of creatives!”
Jen Lorimer, Marketing Officer, North East Futures UTC”
The North East Futures UTC approached us with the ambition to create a website that really sold what they do. As a University Technical College the NE Futures UTC has a different outlook from a normal school and wanted a website that would help them express their unique educational experience. They wanted to showcase the relationship with the industry in the North East, their strive for innovation and all the benefits of attending their UTC.
What We Did
Working closely with the marketing and senior management team at the UTC we quickly got a feel for what makes their approach to education special. We designed and developed a website that conveys that specialness and provides both students and their parents the information they need to make an informed decision.
The UTC’s key target audiences are young people that want to pursue a career in STEM industries and also their parents. For these audiences we envisaged a website with a vibrant and youthful design language while retaining a serious professionalism that is the cornerstone of what the UTC delivers and what parents are looking for.
By using large imagery wherever possible we make prospective students and parents really get a feel for the space, the building and the learning that goes on inside. Coloured overlays used sparingly on hero images add a contemporary feel and get the key messages across: Like school, but different with project-based learning and on support.
Digital Brand Extension
Using the UTC brand and guidelines we extended their existing designs into the digital space with the use of a bright colour palette for impact. We took inspiration from the shape of the forward pointing UTC logo and designed overlays to further enhance the website and content.
By using large imagery wherever possible we make prospective students and parents really get a feel for the space, the building and the learning that goes on inside. Coloured overlays used sparingly on hero images add a coOne of the pain points of the previous site was the lack of clear user journeys and calls to action. The new website has defined user journeys throughout the site which are focused on providing key information and guiding decision making. These are always accompanied with prominent calls to action such as “Apply Here” or “Download a Prospectus”.
One of the aims of the website was to successfully convert interested browsers into prospective applicants and ultimately enrolled students. The UTC model is much more commercially focused than a standard school so it is important for them to maintain interest from the right type of students from a broad spectrum of different backgrounds.
We’re really excited to have been able to work on this project, the North East Futures UTC really does approach education differently and in a way that’s designed to take an industry backed, practically led approach to teaching especially in STEM subjects. The site has seen an uplift in traffic and enquiries for the next academic year and is already having a positive impact on the enrolment of many new students.View Live Project
