The North East Mayoral Strategic Authority

The North East Combined Authority was formed on 7 May 2024, after the election of the North East’s first Mayor Kim McGuinness on 3 May 2024. On 18 May 2026, the Combined Authority changed its name to the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority (NEMSA). This reflects the scale and scope of their ambition, as key funding and policy decisions increasingly shift from Government into the region.

NEMSA is led by the Mayor and Cabinet and covers the seven local authority areas of County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.

The Mayoral Strategic Authority's purpose is to champion the full potential of North East region. 'Collaborating with our partners and local authorities, we’ll create a better way of life by connecting communities, giving people the skills to succeed, and improving wellbeing for all, so that the North East is recognised as an outstanding place to live, work, visit and invest.'

We launched a new website for the organisation, and a new look for their suite of project sites, including the North East Evidence Hub, North East Ambition, and the North East Growth Hub. We continue to work with Mayoral Strategic Authority to evolve it's digital estate and online content.

"Working with Enigma has brought a whole new dimension to our digital strategy - they are an extension of our team and we work together to build a digital estate that is fully aligned to our objectives creating amazing websites that our audiences want to engage with."
