  • Willow Burn Hospice Fundraising

Every year we support a number of charities at Enigma. Our staff are welcome to fundraise for charitable causes that are close to their hearts but we also nominate a charity of the year to focus our fundraising efforts.

This year, after a staff vote, we chose to support Willow Burn Hospice. The hospice which is based in Derwentside states its mission as: Treasuring lives through the provision of personalised specialist supportive, palliative and end of life care. They offer a wide variety of important services to the local community including a day hospice, in patient unit and family support.

Throughout the year we have had a number of fundraising events including bake sales and pot luck events where people bring different food in. You might notice that there’s a common theme revolving around food being the way to get people to give up their cash! This year we have raised £295 which we will be sending to Willow Burn to help them continue their important work.

Here are just some of the other things that our staff get involved in:

The Great North Run – every year at least one or two of our more athletic staff take on the world’s most famous half marathon for a range of different charities.

The Children’s Cancer Run – our Marketing Manager Ian is the man in charge of starting almost 10,000 runners at this family focused 5 mile cross country run. The event raises over £280,000 for local charity the NECCR every year.

Tough Mudder – we have a number of tough mudders in our ranks with a team taking on the challenge of an extreme obstacle course including ice baths, electric shocks and plenty of mud. Usually leading the charge is one of our developers Darren who has got his pink headband indicating he has completed 7 events... so far!

Action for Children Christmas Jumper day – another annual favourite which is coming up fast is the festive fun that is a Christmas Jumper day. Look out for this year’s efforts (whether they are good or bad) by following us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
