Enigma Interactive scooped the Tech Collaboration of the Year award at the Prolific North Tech Awards 2026, recognising our work with National Grid Electricity Distribution to transform how customers access vital information and support during severe weather.
The award celebrates successful partnerships between technology companies and other organisations that deliver transformative results, recognising the innovation, expertise and collaboration behind projects that make a measurable difference.
Enigma's award-winning partnership with National Grid focuses on ensuring that millions of customers can access clear, timely and reliable information about power cuts, particularly during major storms when demand for digital services increases dramatically.

Working closely with our client’s digital, customer service and operational teams, Enigma has helped develop a more resilient and responsive Power Cuts experience, making it easier for customers to report outages, find relevant information and understand what happens next.
The improvements include a redesigned power cut reporting journey, clearer customer communications and new weather-severity modes that allow the website to adapt as conditions change, from advance storm warnings through to recovery.
Behind the scenes, smarter caching and data handling have improved the efficiency of incident-data delivery by 99%, while the integration of a locally held MPAN dataset has helped streamline reporting and reduce reliance on third-party services.
The effectiveness of the collaboration was demonstrated during Storm Goretti, when more than 73,000 premises were without power at the peak of the storm. The Power Cuts website handled more than 1.4 million page views over six days, including over 500,000 in a single day, while more than 10,000 customers reported power cuts online.
The project stood out for combining technical innovation with a deep understanding of customers' needs, delivering digital services capable of responding to extraordinary demand while helping reduce pressure on customer service teams during major incidents.
The award also recognises the strength of the long-standing relationship between Enigma and National Grid, with both teams sharing their expertise to continually improve the digital experience and ensure technology supports the wider emergency response.
Our managing director Steve Grainger said, “It's great to see our partnership with National Grid recognised with this award. The work we've done together is about much more than developing a digital platform. It's about making sure people can access the information and support they need when their electricity supply is disrupted.
“During severe weather, digital services become an important part of the response, and this project demonstrates what can be achieved when technical expertise and operational knowledge come together.
“A huge thank you to everyone at National Grid Electricity Distribution and the brilliant team here at Enigma who have contributed to making this partnership such a success.”
The Prolific North Tech Awards celebrate excellence in technology and innovation, recognising the organisations, teams and projects driving the sector forward across the North of England and beyond.
