After mastering the English Language himself at the age of 60, Gordon Phillips went on to develop a reading programme, working with young offenders, many of whom were dyslexic.  Self Learn Read and Spell was born - a programme that gives students vital one-to-one support.

Although Gordon knew what he wanted to do, he did not know how to translate this into a marketable programme or what options were available to him.  So he picked up the blower and called Enigma...

Since our first meeting, in 2008, we have worked closely with Gordon to plan, implement and trial Self Learn Read and Spell.

Best Bits!

We particularly enjoyed developing fun, interactive games at the end of each module which reward the learner whilst assessing progression.  Various versions of each interactive game were built to ensure the learner has a customised experience – comparative to the rate at which they are learning.  Whilst the programme is fun, it is built so that the learner cannot skip levels without first mastering earlier modules – the reward is new games and levels are unlocked as they progress.

Also, decoding and recording every sound in the English Language was particularly fun – especially for Mike, our voice-over guy!

Updates and additions to the main programme are ongoing, we have developed a Sales & Marketing site for the programme and there are already plans to create another programme for younger learners.
