Enigma has been commissioned to create a Data Book web based version of their successful Educational CD Rom for the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The content will be adapted, along with the visual look and feel to provide a valuable and comprehensive on line resource for target audience of 11-16 science and post-16 chemistry students and teachers.

Like the CD, the RSC Data Book website is an educational tool providing a rich multimedia experience through user centric design, structure and presentation. This makes the advanced scientific content entertaining and easier to absorb.

The site features seven comprehensive databases including Elements, Compounds and Infrared Spectroscopy. Each database contains a vast amount of information (compounds has over 850 entries with in-depth information on each) and is fully searchable in a variety of useful ways. Data can also be exported to a spreadsheet program where the user can manipulate it as required.

The interactive exercises and demonstrations are designed to help students visualise and understand advanced chemical algorithms and processes. Students can experiment with different data and can choose to be tested on a variety of topics. 3D molecules and structures can be rotated and visually examined, enabling students to explore them in-depth.

To complete the study experience, the site includes printable data sheets and a comprehensive list of useful chemistry related links.
