This innovative, educational tool for post-16 chemistry students and teachers provides an effective, interactive learning experience via creative use of multimedia. Developed in conjunction with the Royal Society of Chemistry, the user-friendly design, structure and presentation of the Data Book CD-Rom make its advanced scientific content easily digestible and pleasurable to study.

The disc features seven comprehensive databases including Elements, Compounds and Infrared Spectroscopy. Each database contains a vast amount of information (compounds has over 850 entries with in-depth information on each) and is fully searchable in a variety of useful ways. Also, data can be exported to a spreadsheet program where the user can manipulate it as required.

The interactive exercises and demonstrations are designed to help students visualise and understand advanced chemical algorithms and processes. Students can experiment with different data and can choose to be tested on a variety of topics. 3D molecules and structures can be rotated and examined enabling students to explore them in-depth. Uncomplicated but memorable visuals, re-enforce the effectiveness of the interactive elements of the CD.

To complete the study experience, the disc includes printable data sheets and a highly visual Periodic Table for reference.

The Data Book CD-Rom is distributed to 6th form schools and colleges in the UK. It is also available to buy from the Royal Society of Chemistry (Tel: +44 (0)20 7440 3344).
