enigma and RSPCA Launch Revolutionary Education Website
enigma is to launch a new, interactive education website for the RSPCA. Targeting Key Stage 4 pupils, the site boasts many innovative features including two interactive, web -based activities.
The site: www.science-ethics-animals.org.uk - designed and built by enigma - has been described as “educational and thought provoking. “ Chris Holmes, the RSPCA’s National Education Manager, said: “This resource will provide a unique opportunity for young people to explore some of the ethical dilemmas that advances in science and technology pose for society.”
The two main educational activities hosted on the site, entitled “Ethics court” and “Value of life,” are revolutionary for interactive content of this type. They each use full-screen, dramatic video content and interactive features to get across complex ethical issues and provide curriculum based animal welfare facts.
Steve Grainger, Managing Director of enigma says; “The site uses content in an innovative and thought provoking way to engage young people with science issues. It has been an exciting project to be involved in from the outset, and it has been a great experience working with an organisation of the stature of the RSPCA.”
The online resource is designed to appeal to young people and the enigma team had fun working with Prudhoe Community High School for parts of the project.
The site will be officially launched and showcased at the Association for Science Education (ASE) Annual Conference, University of Nottingham; 7th – 9th January.

A voice in the wilderness
Enigma and the Rural Voices team (part of the Northumberland Strategic Partnership) have worked closely together to devise a refreshing new strategy for the Rural Voices website. The site has always aimed to address the isolation felt by many people in businesses and the voluntary, community and public sectors throughout rural Northumberland. The new site harnesses innovative social networking techniques to deliver a truly interactive web platform. Whereas in its previous guise, site tools were aimed at delivering information to users, the new Network has been designed to encourage users to generate content themselves, either by submitting it for inclusion and comment, or by way of vibrant social discussion. The result is a community-based web property which will eventually become almost entirely self-sustaining. Since its launch the Rural Voices network has attracted new members and phase two developments are already in the planning stages.

Apply for funding online
North East England Investment Centre (NEEIC) has launched an online application form enabling their customers to apply for funding online. This form (the first of its kind in the UK) and the website it sits on were designed and developed by Enigma in collaboration with NEEIC and Perfect Image. Prior to this launch, NEEIC customers were required to fill out a long and complex paper-based form in order to apply for funding. The application forms submitted were often incomplete and full of errors – meaning that NEEIC staff would have to chase customers for correct information in order to process the application.
The NEEIC Online form simplifies things for registered customers. Screens are clear and concise. A few initial questions/answers decide what route the customer will take through the form, so that the customer will only get asked questions relevant to their application. What’s more, because the form validates customer input as it goes, the resulting completed application form is much more likely to be correct, meaning reduced frustration for the customer and less work for NEEIC staff.

Adrianne Scott, an experienced Internet Marketeer and a part of Enigma's team, is enthusiastic about the potential of this form of marketing - "Increasing your site's visibility is vital as the Internet is becoming the first place people turn to do business. For the vast majority of sites, good Internet Marketing can increase visitors many fold and is very often the difference between those sites that are considered hugely successful and the many otherwise excellent sites that languish around the web unloved and never to realise their full potential"
This is the first time that Internet Marketing services have been offered to organisations that are not already clients of Enigmas and the move represents a significant extension to the breadth of services Enigma can provide.
Steve Grainger, Enigma's Managing Director commented "Enigma's reputation has been built on creating great websites, but so far only a few lucky existing clients have benefited from our Internet Marketing skills. By investing in this new Internet Marketing team, I'm pleased that we'll now be able to help a far greater number of clients realise the full potential of their online presence"
