News: Museum of the Dead launches brand new exhibit
Published: 06 April 2011
The votes have now been counted and it is with deepest sympathies that The Open University and Enigma announce the launch of the latest exhibit in Museum of the Dead...

Designed and Developed by Enigma, for those clever people at The Open University, Museum of the Dead invites you to rediscover the creatures who have been extinct since the 2010's!
Since it’s launch on 31st October 2010, Museum of the Dead has been taking visitors on animated virtual tours of the exhibit. Visitors are encouraged to leave comments in the book of condolences for each of the animals, share with friends on Twitter and Facebook and vote for the 10th animal to be exhibited – the great Daddy Longlegs was recently chosen by The Open University.
Competition was stiff, with Mr. Longlegs competing against such creatures as the anteater and the tuna fish. But the Daddy LongLegs came out on top (!?) as the next exhibit visitors would most like to pay their respects to.
The Open University are delighted with the work that has gone into the Museum of the Dead to date – find out more about our work with The Open University and view client feedback.
And Enigma are equally as delighted to have carried out work on the project;
“We’ve immensely enjoyed working with The Open University. A lot of creative thought and work has gone into the site to ensure it captures the interest of, and engages with, the wider audience it is aiming at. This is an excellent example of what the team at Enigma do best!”
Zoe Hartill, Business Development Manager, Enigma
Sadly, the Daddy Longlegs was unavailable to comment! If you’d like to pay your respects and visit this, or any of the other exciting exhibits within the Museum – enter here!
Museum of the Dead compliments the weekly Saving Species programmes delivered on Radio 4 by The Open University and BBC – whilst aiming to capture the interest of a wider audience on the web. Set up as a tour of a decrepit museum – complete with quirky curator and headsets – visitors can view exhibits of animals past and present, read and comment on their obits (a mixture of fact and fiction), and take part in online voting.
If you would like to chat about creating a clever interactive of your very own – why not get in touch! It’s what we do best.
