News: Ambitious about Autism launches new online pledge!

Published: 14 October 2011

This week saw the launch of  Ambitious about Autism's, fantastic new campaign for young people with autism.

'Finished at School' is a campaign to provide post-19 services for young adults with autism, in the hope that eventually the government will create a right to educational support up to the age of 25.

Ambitious about Autism: Finished at School Campaign

Having recently conducted research and pulled together a report regarding services available for young adults with Autism after finishing school, the charity discovered that just 1 in 4 young people with autism access any form of education once they have finished at school, with many entering  long-term residential settings, living alongside people three times their age. Ambitious about Autism believes this destroys their life chances and often means they are dependent on benefits and care for the rest of their lives.

The 'Finished at School' campaign challenges this and aims to create more effective education options for young people with autism once they have finished at school.

And as their digital partner, we’re proud to have worked alongside them to design and create these interactive campaign pages and pledge for this fantastic campaign: http://www.ambitiousaboutautism.org.uk/page/get_involved/finished_school/index.cfm

Features and functionality include;

  • Intuitive and well navigated information pages
  • Interactive pledge sign up with handwriting converter tool, beautifully designed pledge board
  • Social bookmarking functions
  • Links to the brand new Facebook page for the campaign (also designed and developed by Enigma)
  • Write / email your local MP – includes editable templates and tools and a ‘Find your MP’ postcode / MP lookup finder
  • Integration with campaign management software, so that the charity can measure and monitor its reach
  • Plus all the usual additional links, resources and content that goes with such an ambitious campaign

In addition to this, Ambitious about Autism commissioned Enigma to design and develop a brand new Facebook campaign page and the whole campaign received excellent coverage in the Guardian this week!

Here’s hoping all this good work from Ambitious about Autism, combined with intelligent digital tools will all combine to give this support the success it deserves.
